ETCHES – ‘Ice Cream Dream Machine’ (Official Video)

ETCHES return with the much anticipated release of their 2nd single. ‘Ice Cream Dream Machine’ sees the Liverpool outfit, managed by Hattie Pearson (XFM), explore a more experimental sound while retaining the pop sensibilities which gained them initial popularity. Dealing with lyrical themes of modern-day alienation in a consumer driven world, the song’s abstract social commentary underscores an ominous yet strangely uplifting aesthetic.

Their first demo ‘Let’s Move In’ dropped in October 2013 to a wealth of attention. The track gained airplay from XFM (as John Kennedy’s ‘X-Posure Hot One’), BBC Radio 1 Introducing and Amazing radio as well as a featured premiere on The Line Of Best Fit. They followed this demo with a much-praised cover of Marvin Gaye’s ‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine’ filmed live in session for Bido Lito! Magazine.

ETCHES released their debut single ‘The Charm Offensive’ on Feb 24th via CLUB.THE.MAMMOTH, playing to a sell out crowd for the single launch at The Sebright Arms in London. In the following weeks ‘The Charm Offensive’ premiered on The 405 and attracted press from NME and Q Magazine, as well as radio airplay on BBC Radio 1 Introducing, BBC 6Music and XFM. They also recorded a live session for BBC Radio Merseyside’s Introducing show with veteren producer Steve Levine (Culture Club, The Beach Boys)

A subsequent tour included shows at The Great Escape Festival, Kendal Calling, Liverpool Sound City, & Les Nuits Botanique in Brussels before the band returned to The Motor Museum in Liverpool to record the forthcoming single.

‘Ice Cream Dream Machine’ is released on October 13th via CLUB.THE.MAMMOTH with supporting shows at St Pancras Old Church, London (Oct 1st) and East Village Arts Club, Liverpool (Oct 2nd)

TK Lawrence and Rosemary Station – ‘All To You’ single/’Last Human’ album

Formed and based in the USA (Orlando, Florida to be exact), Rosemary Station are a very solid rock band headed by long time performer TK Lawrence. With a rock sensibility and a songwriting style influenced by David Bowie (helped by the fact that he has a remarkable similar voice).

The track above is taken from their latest album ‘Last Human’, which is a really strong collection of well constructed rock tunes. If you like music with an impact and a melody, this is one I’d recommend.

BiasFirey – ‘Running’ single out now

Rustic and tactile are unusual words to come to mind when it comes to rock music, but that’s exactly how I would describe the new single from independent band BiasFirey. ‘Running’ is one of the speedier efforts (according to their press release they are also a dab hand slower tunes) and comes across with plenty of energy and a raw class.

The video, the concept of which is to show songwriter Lisa Aird pursuing or being pursued by her younger self in the woods, lends some extra credence to Kate Bush comparisons – topical given the female vocalist legend’s recent re-emergence, and only lending to the vitality and relevance of the song.

Nuborg single – ‘One Day’ – out now

If there’s one thing you shouldn’t do when listening to the latest track by Nuborg it’s skip through it or stop it halfway through. Allowed to play out in its epicness, this is a gradual, affecting song that rewards those with longer attention spans. See for yourself – click play above and let it unfold.

One Day on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/no/album/one…

One Day is a song in a series of singles being released the 15th of every month by Norwegian ambient artist NuBorg, until her debut album Sliding Off the Edge of the World is complete – due early next year.

Lizzie Jane releases new single ‘I Don’t Think So’ – September 5th

Making waves in and out of Manchester, Lizzie Jane is set to break away from the norm with her latest single.

Following up from her debut EP ‘Monster’ Lizzie is saying exactly what she thinks with her new single ‘I Don’t Think So’. Mixing the qualities of classic British female pop with her rebellious attitude, Lizzie sings about today’s pop culture and how she doesn’t want to follow the crowd.

There are two versions of the song available. A version that is acceptable for daytime radio and a slightly more risky version for those that can handle it!

Lizzie’s usual stripped back acoustic sound has been beefed up with a classy arrangement and clever production and it makes for a catchy tune filled with intelligent and cheeky lyrics.

If the version above is too NSFW for you…here’s the radio edit.
